This glossary defines commonly used dermatitis terms, including products and medications used in the treatment of dermatitis and other skin conditions that co-exist with dermatitis, such as acne, rosacea, eczema, and psoriasis.

Ultravate®: (Halobetasol Propionate) very high potency steroid.

Ultra Pulse carbon dioxide laser: produces a beam which markedly reduces the risk of injury such as burns to the skin. It has been used for laser skin resurfacing, to improve facial wrinkles, aging signs, and acne scars.
Ultraviolet light: the part of sunlight that has a short wavelength and encompasses the wavelengths that treat psoriasis. This type of light can also cause sunburn.

Urticaria: hives (red, raised bumps), often after exposure to an allergen, at the beginning of flares, or after exercise or a hot bath. Commonly occurs in atopic dermatitis
