This glossary defines commonly used dermatitis terms, including products and medications used in the treatment of dermatitis and other skin conditions that co-exist with dermatitis, such as acne, rosacea, eczema, and psoriasis.

Xerotic Dermatitis: a dehydrated condition of the skin characterized by erythema, dry scaling, fine cracking, and pruritus, which occurs chiefly during the winter when low humidity in heated rooms causes excessive water loss from the stratum corneum. Called also asteatosis, asteatotic eczema, eczema craquelé, pruritus hiemalis, winter itch, and xerosis cutis.
